Out with the old, in with the new

Dscn0773The staging yard bustles with activity as demolition gives way to new construction.  Bunks of pipe, bales of rigid insulation and equipment to move it is a familiar sight to those NOLS employees who work across the street- the question on many people's lips is "where is it all going?"

Dscn0761Much of the material, like gypsum wall board, is intolerant to weather and needs to be moved inside as soon as possible.  This truck load is coveted material- statewide, manufacturing plants are on allocation of materials and are 4-6 weeks behind on standard products.  For the Noble, an extendable forklift moves these 12' sheets of 5/8" sheetrock to upper floors where workers stage it in the halls.
Dscn0744Dscn0752Steel studs and gypsum board are going in at the same time as pvc and copper plumbing, HVAC ductwork, and structural steel to stabalize holes throgh poured concrete and masonry walls.
The next installation will look inside and see what the rough-in looks like!
