Instructor Q&A with Brian Fabel

Where did you get your start in outdoor education?
I started as a hiking guide at Canyon Ranch Health resort in Tucson, AZ. It was a fun job where I lead people on day hikes in the Rincon and Santa Catalina mountains. That was all it took, I quit my finance job at a mutual fund company and went to pursue outdoor education.

What is your favorite class to teach?

Anything that involves singing like a rock star!

Are you an analyst/architect, driver, relationship master, or spontaneous motivator?

Relationship master.

Brian Fabel
Give me your best backcountry recipe.
Start with butter, add food, then season.

What music/food do you think about when in the backcountry?
Cheeseburger in paradise.

What is your single greatest accomplishment related to the outdoors?

I have really enjoyed making films of a couple of my outdoor trips. Its been a great experience to be able to share places that not everyone can go to in a creative way.
